PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Dam safety assessment for the Chutes-à-Magnan dam located on Du Loup River, in the town of Saint-Paulin. This assessment is being done in accordance with the Dam Safety Act (LSB, 2000, c.9) (L.R.Q, chapter S-3.1.01).

The dam includes a spillway, a water intake and abutment walls. The small hydro power plant generates 8 MW.

Innergex hired Hydrosys in order to conduct the dam safety assessment.

SERVICES RENDERED

  • Revision of the available information concerning the dams.
  • Visit to perform inspections for dam safety assessment.
  • Drafting of the three inspection reports including conclusions and recommendations concerning the state of the dams.
  • Hydraulic and hydrology studies.
  • Dam break study.
  • Layout and characteristics of the incremental flood zones for both dry weather and flood scenarios.
  • Review of the consequential water levels following a dam rupture in accordance with the regulations of the Dam Safety Act.
  • Review of the dam design and stability studies for the retaining structures in function of the recommendations given by the Canadian Dam Association.
  • Review of the water management plans and the emergency plans.
  • Review of the dam’s classification.
  • Drafting of the three dam safety assessment reports including recommendations and corrective measures.
